Grace

I’ve been a Christian for many years and the further I got from the “beginning” the more I mistakenly thought grace was something distant or for others, the lucky (current) experience of new believers.
How wrong I was. The past year has taught me much about grace … that it is more than what we receive at the point of salvation. I appreciate now, more than ever, the grace that God offers me daily.
Are You Asking Questions?

Are you asking questions of yourself and not just others? Craig Groschel is Senior Pastor of LifeChurch.tv in Oklahoma City. Mom worked at the church while she lived in Edmond. I grew to appreciate their leadership and method of ministry and try to keep an eye on their innovation and ministries.
The following questions are part of a blog series Craig will be writing. He recommends them for leaders regarding their relationship with Christ. Continue reading Are You Asking Questions?…

If you’re just joining the short-story of the last year or so, consider returning to this post after reading Part I and Part II.
And, on with the rest of the story (a la Paul Harvey) … Continue reading What’s going on? … Part III…

If this is the first post you are reading, you may want to read “What’s going on? … Part I” before beginning. However, if you prefer the Choose Your Own Adventure format more enjoyable you may start reading wherever you want but don’t expect to skip to another chapter … because well, it isn’t written yet!

How do I sum up a lifetime of events and relationships that have led to the point where today I am on a leave of absence from my job? This post will probably not resemble a summary but a short-story. I must issue a caveat before we begin … don’t worry. Just use this as an opportunity to understand where I am in my journey today (and in the past).
Buckle up and settle in for a bit.
Getting there … and now that we’re “there” I’ll call this “On Obama, Race, and the Church”

My “status” on Facebook states, “Christy should get paid for how well she wastes time.” Tonight was no exception. I had every intention of writing a quick background summary regarding my leave of absence. However, I have spent the last five hours reading blogs, news articles, and (literally) hundreds of responses regarding Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Barack Obama, and his speech last Tuesday on race. Some of those articles were:
Love and Forgiveness

I really had no intention of adding anything to the blog tonight, except for maybe my homework answer.
(Wow … that took me a long time.)
Anyway, I was “surfing” descriptions that people use to identify their blogs (a.k.a. “tags”) and saw a post by “Benedict Seraphim”. Now, there are some differences in our church traditions, yet I really appreciated his post regarding human-beings and our ability or motivation to forgive and love. It was rather challenging. Hopefully it might be good for you too!

I decided to remove this post … not because I don’t want to share it but because I’m not sure it’s relevant to this blog or just plain distracting. However, if you would like to know my answers, let me know and I’ll send them to you! ![]()
Dianne: Part Seven

You might be asking, “Where were parts one through six?” … they’re in my hand-written journal. If I find it useful to repost I might do so. In the meantime, part seven is number one on http://mcfchr.wordpress.com.
So Dianne (my counselor) and I spent a bit of time today discussing a topic I mentioned in a previous post regarding why/how I trivialize the “trauma” I experienced in junior high and high school. I was surprised at how surprised Dianne was (do you follow?) by the speed I named the reasons:
