I am mulling a question posed by Erwin McManus via twitter, “Do we choose community? Does the community choose us? As outsiders are we willing to serve a people not our own and earn the right to belong?” I have many strong opinions that arise from being a former church staff member and now a (former staff member) who longs for such “community” again. The pond and trails at I.H. Managerial Park were impressive today. More than I expected. It was a little quiet at first but as I was leaving several cars arrived to fish at the pond. There were a lot of picnic tables around the pond and it would be a great place for groups or families to enjoy.
Not bad photos for a cell phone, hmm?

Something’s brewing …

And it’s not coffee at this time of day!
Being awake until 4am Monday morning gave me plenty of time to wonder “why” I couldn’t sleep. After thinking through people and issues to pray over I began to work through “lessons” I might need to meditate on.
I was reminded of a conversation with Mom a few weeks ago. A word she used has stuck with me since and the word came to mind again during worship services this past Sunday. The phrase Mom spoke to me was, “Engage with me Christy.” The word I want to use is “disengagement”. (more…)
